Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival at Røros airport. If you can fly directly to Røros airport that makes the logistics very smooth. We pick you up to the airport and drive down to Alvdal (approx 1 hour) and get installed at our Lodge or another accommodation that fits the group. We can get our chef that we work with to make all the meals at our lodge. Excellent food from local produce. We go through the plan for the week during the welcome dinner in the evening.
Day 2
After a solid breakfast we will embark on the planned route of the day. We will follow the old trails from the historic mines in the area, and specifically the trail of the cableway connecting the mines with the railway in Alvdal. We finish our tour with a refreshingly fun descent from the top of the old cableway and down to our lodging at Urørt Lodge. This is regarded as one of the most iconic mountain-trails in Norway.
Day 3
After breakfast we will get a transport Mt. Tron, where we will be shuttled up to a mountain plateau at 1300 meters on Norway’s second highest lying mountain road. From the plateau we have 800 vertical meters of fantastic singletrack down to the valley floor, and we can pick and choose among some of the best mountain biking Norway has to offer. This can be a full day of shuttlebased riding, or we can get 1 or 2 long uplifts and have longer tours. At any rate we can have a lot of riding in the forest and the beautiful spaced out pine-trees which is common in this area.
Day 4
Option 1: We have an early breakfast and go straight to Gubrandsdalen which will be our destination for epic rides on the way to Sogndal. When we arrive in Gudbrandsdalen (approx 2,5 hours drivetime) we will have a day of shuttle-based riding on some of the best natural trails Norway has to offer. When we are all out of energy from the riding we jump back in the van and finish with the last leg of the drive to Sogndal. The drive to Sogndal (approx 3,5 hours) will take us over the mountain pass at Sognefjellet, one of the most scenic roads in Norway. If it is possible to have a yacht for the days in Sogndal that would be the best. We can have the yacht pick us up in Luster, once we get down to the fjord.
Option 2: After breakfast we transport the group to Røros, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The riding in Røros is very flowy singletracks in the mountains, coupled with some very nice and loamy trails in the forest. We can do a sightseeing in the very idyllic town centre before we get on the plane to Sogndal (NOTE: this needs to be a private flight, as there are no commercial direct flights to Sogndal. Also we need to make sure that the plane which is booked can land at Sogndal. The runway is shorter than on the bigger airports). Our driver will gather all the bikes in Røros and drive the bikes and our shuttlevan over to Sogndal and meet us there on the next day.
Day 5
Following breakfast we get a transport up to the mountains and the goal of the day is the mountain of Vorfjellet. The ascent to Vorfjellet follows a magnificent trail, which rewards us with an amazing view at the top, and a thrilling descent which we link up with a trail that takes us all the way down to the fjord where we can go directly to the yacht.
Day 6
The yacht transports us to Kaupanger which is the main riding centre in Sogndal. Sogndal is the regional capital of the Sognefjord, and the mountain bike capital on the fjords. For the next two days we will enjoy the loamy trails around Sogndal and Kaupanger which offer a magnificent combination of beautiful trails and fjord view. The yacht picks us up in Kaupanger after we finish our ride.
Day 7
Another day of riding the beautiful trails in Sogndal, where we choose the trails that offer the best riding depending on the conditions. If the weather is nice we will go up high to the trails with fjordviews. If it is not so nice, we will stay in the forest.
Flight back home from Sogndal after the ride, or spend one more night at the yacht and spend one more day with activities off the bike.
Additional activities:
Alvdal:
– Hike to the edge or down into the Jutulhogget canyon, the second largest canyon in Northern Europe

Sogndal:
– Kayaking on one of the most iconic fjords in Norway, either on the UNESCO fjord of Næræyfjorden or Fjærlandsfjorden
– Sauna on the fjord in Fjærlandsfjord. Can be combined with kayaking and/or glacier hike
– Hike up to Jostedalsbreen, the biggest glacier in Norway. You can hike up to and on the glacier with beautiful views of Fjærlandsfjorden.
– Take the iconic Flåm railway up to the mountains, and one of the longest ziplines in Europe back down to the valley floor.
– Hike in Hurrungane, the most alpine part of the Norwegian mountains. Or we can also arrange climbing one of the iconic summits with guides if that is interesting.
The area
Mountain biking in Sogndal
Sogndal is the mountainbike capital on the fjords. Due to its unique location, geograpy and topography, Sogndal offers supreme mountain biking. And to top it off, it probably offers some of the most scenic trails in Norway, with fjordviews, glaciers and alpine peaks. The riding is everything from loamy flow trails to ridgeline trails up in the alpine. If you want to combine fjords and mountain biking – Sogndal is the place to go!
Mountain biking in Alvdal, Tynset and Folldal
Most of our tours are hosted in the beautiful mountain landscape neighbouring Rondane national park. The mountain biking in Alvdal, Folldal and Tynset is known for it´s unique combination of trails above and below the tree line. The mountains in the area are almost hand tailored for mountain biking, with summits that are steep enough for fantastic descents, but also mellow enough so you don´t have to push your bike too often. It is one of the driest areas in Norway, well protected from western low pressures by the mountain regions of Rondane and Jotunheimen. This means mostly dry trails throughout the season!
In Alvdal you find Mt. Tron, with Norway’s highest mountain road all the way to the summit. This provides a unique starting point to a magnificent network of trails. The area is also famous for the mountains farms, spread all around in the mountains of the region. Most of the trails we use for biking are either used as trails to the mountain farms, or to the old mines, which you also find scattered around in the area. Both result in a unique network of trails in the mountains.
