About

  1. With Rondane National Park as our backdrop we will experience some of the best mountain biking and mountain culture that Norway has to offer.

Most of the trails we use for biking are either used as trails to the mountain farms, or to the old mines, which you also find scattered around the area. Both result in a unique network of trails in the mountains.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival

Arrival at Urørt Lodge, a small family-farm in Alvdal which will serve as our first stop on this tour. We will go through the different day-plans, adjust our bikes and enjoy our supper made from local produce.

Day 2 – The summer farms

After breakfast we get a shuttle up to the mountains. The tour of the day will take us through the alpine highlands, with dry singletracks in beautiful scenery, and lots of downhill. We will finish with a thrillingly fun descent down to the valley floor and the river Folla. Our shuttle picks us up at the bottom, and brings us to the other side of the valley where we will sleep at a traditional summer farm with amazing views.

Distance: 25 km
700 hm climb – 1000 hm descent

Day 3 – The spa

Straight from the summer farm we make a small climb to our first summit where we enjoy views of mountains, lakes and rivers and a long and beautiful descent. At the bottom we head back up to the mountains and the last and spectacular descent taking us all the way down to our hotel for the night. Arriving at the hotel you can enjoy a relaxing and refreshing swim in the spa pool. In the evening we enjoy a delicious farewell-dinner made from local produce.

Distance: 20 km
600 hm climb – 750 hm descent

Day 4 – The traverse

Following a slow and tasty breakfast we head back out on the trails. Our shuttle will transport us to the trailhead of the day and we begin with a long and beautiful descent. The first part of the day will be spent on some beautiful trails in the forest, before we commence on a very scenic traverse bringing us back up above the treeline, two summits and the trail ends with a fantastic trail straight from the summit and down to the valley floor and the end of the tour at Urørt Lodge.

Distance: 20 km
650 hm climb – 1150 hm descent

The area

Mountain biking in Alvdal, Folldal, and Tynset

Most of our tours are hosted in the beautiful mountain landscape neighboring Rondane National Park. The mountain biking in Alvdal, Folldal and Tynset is known for its unique combination of trails above and below the tree line. The mountains in the area are almost hand tailored for mountain biking, with summits that are steep enough for fantastic descents, but also mellow enough so you don’t have to push your bike too often. It is one of the driest areas in Norway, well protected from western low pressures by the mountain regions of Rondane and Jotunheimen. This means mostly dry trails throughout the season!

In Alvdal you find Mt. Tron, with Norways highest mountain road all the way to the summit. This provides a unique starting point to a magnificent network of trails. The area is also famous for the mountain farms, spread all over the mountains in the region. Most of the trails we use for biking are either used as trails to the mountain farms, or to the old mines, which you also find scattered around the area. Both result in a unique network of trails in the mountains.

In 2019 we had the biggest Norwegian MTB-magazine on a visit, and spent a spectacular day in the mountains. See the full video here.
